Introduction

The Federation Of Co-Tops is a group for gay/bisexual men who identify as top/active and enjoy group sessions with other top and bottom guys.

You can contact other top guys with the same interests, arrange meetings, share information, advice and support.

Are you a top who likes group fun? Or a couple who wants a second top to join in? If so you have probably found out just how difficult it is trying to find another top! Why? It seems us top blokes are a bit of a minority.

Then there is the problem of quality. When you do make contact with another top online, how do you know if he is genuine or reliable?

This is where FOCT comes in. Our aim is to create a network of like-minded guys based on real-life contacts and friendships. You can invite guys you already know to the group. You can recommend them as being worth checking out. You can look through the Photos section of tops and bottoms and see who other guys have vouched for. You can post messages telling of your exploits, watch home movies staring group members to see what's on offer! (ps - We're on XTube too...)

FOCT started life on 10th March 2010 as a mailing list/Yahoo! Group:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/co-tops. (177 members as of 22/05/2010.) To join this you will need a Yahoo! ID.

Launched on 22nd May 2010 is the NEW INTERACTIVE WEBSITE. For details of this see http://co-tops.blogspot.com/2010/05/new-interactive-foct-website.html

You can join both. Check out the message archives and pictures of members on the mailing list to see who is part of the group so far.

This is a free community venture, NOT commercial.

DO NOT JOIN THIS BLOG - it is only for information about the group! Click on the links above.

Please note that if you join using an email address that consists of your full name, this WILL be visible to others in the group. You may consider creating a new Yahoo profile or email address to use just for this group (and any other adult groups you join): http://yahoo.com

NEW - Interactive FOCT Website

OK, here goes...

It's here!

http://cotops.drupalgardens.com

I recommend you read the instructions before creating a profile, which I have put here: http://cotops.angelfire.com/newsite.html

It's actually fairly quick and easy to register, but I want to make sure
everyone understands how all the features work...

This is different to what I had in mind orginally; I won't be creating each profile myself. With this new site you can upload your OWN pictures (though I haven't worked out how to display thumbnails yet... I'm still learning how to build sites like this!)

It also has Forums and user blogs, so there is plenty of scope for chat and discussion.

It shows you who is online and who has joined recently. It is also has a good search function (unlike the Yahoo! Group site)

I decided to keep it as a 'private' site after all, so guys WILL have to create an account and log on in order to see your profile and photos.

Unlike various contact sites there are no restrictions on viewing profiles, viewing pictures, sending or receiving messages. It's all totally free.

Another thing that makes the site different to the Yahoo! Group is that I have made the profile content - including photos - compulsory. I want it to be free of lurkers! No more masses of invisible, anonymous profiles. If you join the new group it will because you want to be noticed by guys who are looking for the same kind of fun as you.

Privacy, discretion and security are still a high priority, of course. On the new site you MUST upload a photo, but it does NOT have to be of your face. But please, a decent body picture would be great. Give us SOME idea of what you look like!

Huge thanks must go to Ed (edsoda on the Yahoo! Group, edburton on the new site) for pointing me in the direction of the resource that made this possible. He's a very special boy. :-)

It's still a work in progress and bugs are inevitable. Please try it out, see what you think and let me know your thoughts. If you have any difficulties just gimme a shout.

Displaying your Full Name on FOCT?

In terms of privacy and discretion, you may decide that you do not want to display your full name to other users of FOCT.

However, guys have accidentally done this when joining the group!

The most common mistake is to sign up to the group using an email address that contains your full name. All members' email addresses are visible to EVERYONE in the group. If your name is John Smith and your email address is john.smith@hotmail.com then everyone will see this.

The best option is to create a new Yahoo! account (click here) with the same name that you use on a contact site, such as 'HotStud', so your email address will be displayed as something like HotStud@yahoo.com.

Once you create your new profile, take care how you fill in the details.

Where it says 'Full Name' (blue arrow) this will be visible only to people you link profiles with. You have to fill in two fields, one for first name and one for surname, but you can put anything in these fields.

Where it says 'Display Name' (red arrow), this will be visible to EVERYONE on the group.

To edit your profile from the group website, click on your name in the top left corner (Where it says "Hi, You") then click "Edit Profile".

Take care out there!

Messaging Other Members

Hi guys

Some members seem to be a little confused about how to contact other members on the group.

If you are receiving daily individual emails from the group, please remember that each one is from another member via the mailing list, NOT directly from that member.

Therefore, if you try to reply to a message by just clicking 'Reply' on your email program it will send your reply not directly to that individual, but to the WHOLE GROUP.

At the foot of each email you will see a link Reply to sender ... click this link to send a reply ONLY to the person who originally posted that message.
